Hopalong Cassidy—Hoppy to his pals—will be arriving in Sydney on November 11th. His trip to Australia has been arranged by crippled childrens organisations in this country. While in Australia he will visit Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.

Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) arrived in Australia with Tripalong (Grace Boyd) on 11 November 1954 and departed on 24 November. Cheering crowds of 100,000 were reported greeting Hopalong in Melbourne, with thousands more in Sydney, Adelaide and Darwin. The Townsville Morning Bulletin reported "The Royal visit excepted, there is no parallel in this country with the tumultuous welcome given the American movie character Hopalong Cassidy by the juvenile (and not so juvenile) populace of Sydney and Melbourne" (15 November 1954).
