Later Echevarría and Gredown

The eclectic range of Western oneshots produced by Gredown in Australia also contained some of Echevarría's later Westerns for Norma Editorial (Spain).

Some of Echevarría earliest anonymous work for Selecciones Ilustradas, dating to 1971-72, may also have been published by Gredown in Australia . Echevarría wrote for Drácula (Buru Lan SA de Ediciones, Spain) under the pseudonym "Roger", a pen name used by agency head Josep Toutain, but also other SI authors.33Reported at www.tebeosfera.com. Drácula was an ambitious project to publish renowned Spanish writers willing to be experimental, as censorship...   Many stories attributed to "Roger" in this title are part of the Delta 99 series which Gredown printed.44For example, see www.tebeosfera.com....

In 1981, a revived Címoc (Editorial Norma, Spain) printed several short stories by Echevarría with Adolfo Usero (b.1941) in its early issues, including "El Sueño de Mike", "Hoy voy a matar a alguien", "El hombre que contaba historias" and "El viejo Doctor Spensor".

Other one-off stories include "Popy" with artist Ramón González Antonaya (b. ?) for Norma Editorial in 1982;55Published in Kirk 4 (Norma Editorial, Spain) 1982....   the first part of a proposed series Metropol Hospital with artist Joan Boix (b.1945) in 1984 for Ediciones Metropol;66Published in Metropol 9 (Metropol, Spain), 1984....   and "Una noche tranquila" again with artist Usero in Dossier Negro 185, March 1985 (Ediciones Zinco, Spain).77Reported at www.telefonica.net....

In 1985, Echevarría adapted Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (Bruguera, Spain), with art by Antonio Deu Llamas (b.1950) and a cover by Esteban Maroto (b.1942).88Published in the first issue of a revived Joyas Literarias Juveniles, Bruguera's Spanish equivalent of Classics Illustrated. From 1970 to...

At this time, the flow of new comic work from Echevarría appears to stop. His subsequent activities are uncertain and his current location unknown, although a career in non-graphic fiction under a pen name is likely.

A number of pulp science fiction and horror novels by "Alan Parker" and "John Oxford", published 1981-1985, may have been authored by Echevarría under these pseudonyms.1111The author "Carlos Echevarría Alonso" is reported as the same Echevarría by www.tebeosfera.com. Reported at www.tebeosfera.com. Drácula was an ambitious project to publish renowned Spanish writers willing to be experimental, as censorship rules were relaxed at the end of the Franco dictatorship. It was intended to bind the issues into luxurious volumes, but only a few were completed. A version of this title was also briefly published in the UK by NEL, and Warren in the US reprinted the first six issues as a 120 page softcover book in 1972, similar to the oringal vision. (See vaultofevil.suddenlaunch3.com and www.tebeosfera.com). It is unknown what stories by "Roger" could be attributed to Echevarría.

Published in Metropol 9 (Metropol, Spain), 1984.
Published in the first issue of a revived Joyas Literarias Juveniles, Bruguera's Spanish equivalent of Classics Illustrated. From 1970 to 1983, there were 269 issues published in the first series. The second volume lasted only four issues in March and April 1985. For further information, see seronoser.free.fr.
Viaje al infierno ("Journey to Hell") was created in the early 1980s and serialised in Toutain Editor's Spanish version of Creepy in 1984. Episodes were in issues 55 (Las moscas), 56 (El espejo), 57 (La visita), 58 (Hambre), 60 (Muerte anunciada), 62 (La última pesadilla). See also lambiek.net.
Historia de un rifle ("Story of a rifle"), created for Norma Editorial, was published in Spain in Capitan Trueno (Bruguera, Spain). The series published, for the first time in 20 years, new adventures of Spanish comics legend Capitan Trueno (Captain Thunder), but survived only 13 issues. Historia de un rifle was also published in Italy as Rifle in Skorpio (Eura Editoriale); in France as Historia d'un Fusil and in Norway as Winchester 66 in Colt (Semic AS).

A short story "Ajuste de cuentas" by Carlos Echeverría Alonso was also published in Mystery Magazine, June 1968 (editorial M.Y.N.E. S.A.), prior to the start of Echeverría known comics work.
This issue also includes "El Detective" by Alfonso Font, probably the closest the two creators came to working together after Geminis.
José González is most famous for his art on Vampirella, which was reprinted by KG Murray in Australia. An obituary for González mentions a possible second story by Echevarría and González: "Crazy" in a 1987 issue of Címoc (see www.universohq.com). González, also moved away from comics around this time to focus on fine art exhibitions.
