Wally and the Major [Examiner] (The Herald and Weekly Times Limited, 1942 series) has been grouped as part of a series of titles with related contents.

This series is composed of newpaper strip reprints. The order of early unnumbered issues is not entirely confirmed.

Issues were released in different regions branded for the relevant state capital newspaper. Some issues have no newspaper branding. Some different different contents have been reported, but not confirmed, for different editions. It is unknown if eveyr local edition exists for all issues.

The National Library of Australia suggests the series 1942-1959, which matches many contemporary newspaper advertisements showing publication in mid-December, However, the Library also reports 1943 to 1960, which could be incorrect or reflect distribution in different states. Some Sydney Sun advertisements are for mid-year releases.
