Curly Wee & Gussy Goose

Curly Wee & Gussie Goose (David Syme & Co., 1952?) has been grouped as part of a series of titles with related contents.

This feature is originally from the Liverpool Echo and was published in Australian newspapers such as The Age (Melbourne) and the Western Mail (Perth). The feature was produced from 20 September 1937 to 31 December 1969. Maud Budden (? - 1976) wrote the verse, with art by Roland Clibborn (1881-1969) until 1967, when art duties were taken over by Clark.

The stories are comics in the UK tradition of images with text (a poem) underneath. Episodes generally have an individual title and are half-page, composed of two or three images.

There were 10 annuals published in the UK from 1944 to 1953, However, these Australian issues appear to be directly reprinted from newspaper strips, rather than the UK annuals. The Age advertised its "new Curly Wee and Gussy Goose picture book" from Saturday 19 November 1938, which was possibly the first issue.
