...covering Australian comics
Halstead Press is a generic name used for this publisher where the specific printed name is not logged in the AusReprints database. The printed publisher name might be different.
The original Halstead Press was founded in 1929 by George Robertson of Angus and Robertson and was Australia’s leading book printer for 40 years. After a corporate takeover in the 1970s Halstead stopped printing and became a publishing imprint. Robertson’s great grandson acquired the logo and identity, and established a new company in 1991.
Some publishers used diverse publisher names in their comics. These can reflect distinct operating divisions, but may just disguise operations in the face of bans or censorship. Ausreprints records minor variations as they can help dating for undated comics.
