Founded by David Couper Thompson in 1905, from the assets of the former W.& D.C. Thompson (1886-1905). It's earliest series that later included comics were Adventure (1921-1961 and The Rover (1922-1973), which began as children's papers. Its first comics were The Dandy in 1937 and Beano in 1938.
