Company records indicate Strexel was registered on 14 January 1981, with a paid up capital of $50,002. It's official address was 141 Middle Road #03-03 GSM Building Singapore 188976. Contemporary media reports indicate it was probably not operational until about February 1982.
Strexel is described as "Publisher's Representatives" and appears to also be a wholesaler and distributor of a range of products. The company is associated with the Singapore printer of Murray Publishers' colour comics.
A Strexel Advertisement in The Straits Times, 3 October 1982 (p. 21), shows it promoting Charlton material based on the Australian printings from the mid to late-1970s. Titles included the Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo and Kong Kong Phooey. These comics were also published in Malay and Mandarin.
In late 1983, Strexel als began publishing Charlton material based on King Features strips, Beetle Bailey, Blondie, The Phantom and Popeye.
Strexel also published or distributed a range of other publications, including current affairs and finance. It provided artwork of its licenced characters to other companies for marketing and promotions.
