The Malian Press Pty. Limited is the publisher name printed on these comics. Other series associated with this publisher might have a variation or an unexpected publisher name printed in the comic.
29 Bligh Street, Sydney.
Little is known about the Malian Press. It primarly published pulp novel series, with some romance comics.
The Malian Press Pty. Limited was registed as a company on 17 July 1951 'to carry on the business of magazine and newspaper proprietors, etc'. It was established by James A. Mitchell and Paul G. Jullienne (http://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-806423365). Mitchell had also established pulp publisher Whitman Press Pty. Limited the previous year (17/8/1950) with Israel B. Lewis.
29 Bligh Street was Savoy House, a multi-story building with a number of commercial tenants. Other companies (possibly related) that were operating at this address in the 1940s were Tip-Top Publications and the Mayne Literary Agency / Mayne School of Authorship (Suite 301). The sports publication company, Cary-Scott Publications (Edwin Clifton Cary and Kenneth Charles Bruff MacDonell proprietors) moved to the address in 1951. It was also the address for 2UE radio staion in the early 1950s.
The Malian Press was deregistered as a company in 1958 ['Companies Act' (24 January 1958). Government Gazette of the State of New South Wales (Sydney, NSW: 1901-2001), p. 155. Retrieved 4 November 2017, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article220276514].
Some publishers used diverse publisher names in their comics. These can reflect distinct operating divisions, but may just disguise operations in the face of bans or censorship. Ausreprints records minor variations as they can help dating for undated comics.
