The Daily Advertiser (Wagga Wagga) Friday 9 February 1945 includes a report "Success of Former Wagga High School Boy":

"We have received a copy of the 'Monster Comic' a Sid Miller publication, an all Australian production in which Len Lawson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lawson (now of Manly) has contributed the full length adventure comic (Peter Jury), 64 pictures. Len is only 17 years of age and has promise of becoming one of Australia's leading comic artists. Len Lawson is a grandson of Mr. A. Hardge, of Wagga. His work has won considerable attention and it is pretty generally conceded that for so young an artist it is outstanding in merit."
