The inside front cover of this comic has an advertisement for CIC-Taft Video, a short-lived division of CIC Video's Australian unit. That company distributed some Hanna-Barbera products in Australia.
In August and September 1986 the Sydney Morning Herald ran a series of competitions for CIC-Taft videos, with '20 runner-up prizes of a Super Smurf Figurine and a Super Stars comic'. It is likely this is a specially printed prize comic.
