This issue was first published on 9 September 1948 (www.deepwoods.org/). There appears to be two variants of this first issue. This cover with a bullet hole in the skull appears to be most common. The other has no bullet hole on the skull. It’s believed that the skull bullet version was the first print run, however reviewed in the second print run due to local censorship (thephantom.fan/comics/frew-1/).
