This comic reprints a selection of strips and illustrations by Jim Russell from the newspaper Smith's Weekly. This book mostly consists of examples of the strip "Smith's Vaudevillians", a feature originally drawn by Stan Cross, but later taken over by Russell. The strips are in a gag-a-day format, but there is an overarching storyline about visiting New Guinea to entertain the troops. Interspersed among these strips are cartoon reviews "High Spots from the Shows" and illustrations entitled "Girls of the Theatre".
