Place worked in animation during the forties for the Fleischer Studio, notably on Popeye, Betty Boop, Little Lulu and Superman.
In the late forties and through to the sixties, he did numerous teen humour comics for DC, as well as Jerry Lewis and Bob Hope adaptations.
In the late fifties, Place had a studio with Rube Grossman and Otto Feuer.
With Toni Howard, he drew an obscure newspaper strip 'Myron the Mousenik' in the sixties.
