Biography

Luis Gasca received a doctorate in Law from the University of Zaragoza.

Founder of the fanzine Cuto and writer of some of the first books on comics, its language and its history, such as Los comics en España or El Discourse del Comic. He was an editor at the publishing houses Buru Lan and Pala.

He served as secretary of the San Sebastián International Film Festival from 1970 to 1983. In the eighties he was a publicist, an advisor to TELEVISA in Mexico and a film producer.

He was appointed Vice President and Secretary of the cinematographic production company D`Ocon-Derko Films.

He was also the founder of the first Salone Internazionale dei Comics de Bordighera (Italy) in 1965, together with Alain Resnais, Umberto Eco, Romano Calisi, Francis Lacassin, Jacques Lob and Rino Albertarelli, as well as the Centro de Expresión Gráfica de San Sebastián. He was Deputy Secretary General of the International Association of Comic Critics of Paris and Secretary General of the International Federation of Comic Research Centers of the same city. He has also been General Delegate of Spain of the Center d`Etude des Littératures d`Expression Graphique and Honorary Member of a multitude of entities related to comics and cinema: Cartoon and Illustration Cartoon Club of Barcelona, ​​Cartoon Expo de Rome, Associació Festival de Cinema de Barcelona, Festival del Film de Compiegne, Centro di Studi Iconografici of the Instituto de Pedagogía de l'Università La Sapienza de Rome, among others.
