Wittman was born in Bondi and worked as a freelance commercial artist for local publishers.

Wittman was the uncredited cover artist on many of the Reigate (Cleveland Press) Silhouette romance comics, including the subsequent Diamond, Enchanting, Personal, Picture, Star and Valentine Romance titles.
