Biography
Ted Brodie-Mack is a New Zealand born, Australian-raised artist. He worked frequently as Brodie Mack with writer Archie E. Martin [as Peter Amos].
Ted was writing and doing art as a gag cartoonist and cover illustrator for the Wellington publication, New Zealand Free Lance (?, 1901 series), from 1915 to 1917. He moved to Australia to take an executive position for the Fullers Theatres Ltd. He started acting as an agent writer for stage and theater acts. Brodie-Mack helped found The Black and White Artists' club.
He continued producing editorial and gag cartoons and illustrations to newspapers in Australia including: Army News (Darwin), Aussie, The Australian Woman's Weekly, The Bulletin, The Budget, The Daily Mail, Perth Sunday Times, Smith's Weekly, Sunday Sun, and The Sydney Truth. Brodie-Mack created sports cartoons for the Daily Telegraph, from February 1937 to 1963.
During the 1930s, he co-created the The Brodie Mack Correspondence Art School.
