Biography

Renée was an Austrian-born artist who was one of the earliest women working in the US comic industry, beginning in the forties.

She worked initially for Fiction House on features such as "Jane Martin", "The Werewolf Hunter", "The Lost World" and "Señorita Rio".

When Fiction House moved from New York in 1948, Renée and her artist husband, Eric Peters worked for St. John Publications on Abbott & Costello Comics. She also drew romance stories for St. John (Teen-Age Diary Secrets and Teen-Age Romances).

After she left the comics industry, Renée did some children's books and wrote some plays. She designed textiles for Lanz of California and jewellery for Willy Woo.
